What is a grab truck / self-loading dump-truck?

A grab truck is a dump truck equipped with a hydraulic crane and clam bucket, which enables the truck to self load without the need of any on site equipment.

What materials can your grab truck pick up?

Our grab truck can pretty much pick up any loose items, but is generally used for the collection of waste material such as, dirt, concrete, asphalt, bricks, blocks, pavers, brush, construction and landscaping waste. We also accept mixed waste at an additional cost. We specialize in delivering armour stone and are able to place the stone where it is required. Local landscape supply companies frequently use our grab truck to deliver their products.

Why choose a grab truck instead of a dumpster / bin?

  • lack of space for a bin
  • no waiting on bins being delivered or collected
  • perfect for removing waste fill or brush, as we do the loading
  • you can keep adding to the pile, as we will fit in as much as we legally can
  • perfect for illegal waste dumping clean ups

How much can your grab truck carry?

Our grab truck can legally carry up to 15000kg / 33000lb or 14 cubic yards.

How much does your grab service cost?

The cost varies depending on a number of factors; First the site location; Secondly the amount of waste material being disposed of; and lastly the type of material. Inert waste material such as, soil, concrete, stone etc is usually charged a flat rate per truck-load. Mixed waste is charged per grab plus tipping fees. We also provide discounts for larger jobs where multiple loads are required.

How far can the crane on your grab truck reach?

The crane on our grab truck can reach up to 35 feet.

Can a grab truck load over a fence or wall?

Yes, they can, as long as the driver is able to pull the vehicle alongside the fence or wall, and he/she is able to directly see the material to be loaded from the control platform.

How long will it take to load the truck?

Provided that access is good and the waste material is heaped in a single easily accessible pile, our driver should be able to load up in 15-30 minutes.

Where should I put the waste material?

Before you choose a spot to pile the waste material, be sure to check that there are no low overhanging tree branches or cables, as these will prevent the driver from being able to load safely. In addition to this, please make sure the driver is able to pull the vehicle directly alongside the waste material.

How much notice will you need?

We recommend 48 hours notice if you require a specific collection or delivery time. However, we try to accommodate a booking made on the same day.

Is there any waste you cannot dispose of?
